Hello world! Welcome to My New Hair Blog!

I’ve got lots of announcements to make on the professional front lately, and figured that the best way to share with all of you is to create a new blog, where I hope to post very important stuff-  from how-to hair videos, to little design and style inspirations, to information about where you can find me working!  Please feel free to add this page to your RSS feed for instant gratification!

To start, with a mix of both sadness and excitement,  I would like to announce that I will no longer be returning to New York City on a regular work-basis.  I feel in my heart that I need to concentrate on my life and career in Seattle right now.

The past year of running back and forth has been really beautiful, and I feel very fortunate to have been able to live the way that I have. Not many girls get to fly back and forth between two amazing cities to do hair! There hasn’t been one moment when I have not felt like the luckiest bi-coastal girl around.

While the past year has been magic, it has also been rather exhausting.  I find that I don’t have quite enough time to spend with my new husband while I run around loving up on everyone’s hair.

So, now that I feel I’ve finally found a salon where I can be happy in Seattle, NYC and I are taking a break. We’ve lately became more about memory and nostalgia than about opportunity and future. I guess this is always what happens when we take a little space after a passionate, all-consuming love affair and break-up. You move on!  You get a new haircut! You live your life in a new way that you didn’t think was even a possibility just a few short years back.

Talking to my salon owners at Space in New York the other day, It felt like I was snipping a magic cord and telling my family I had to go. Space has shown me nothing but love through the years. I take away from that salon everything I know and feel confident about professionally. I only know how to do some serious hair because they took the time and the trouble to teach me.  They also supported my move to Seattle with love in their hearts, and let me lead my own way with coming and going. I hope that all my great New York clients will continue to go there for services. Every person at space is an amazing hair-stylist and an amazing individual.

Please let me know if I can help you choose another hairstylist at Space in NYC for your specific needs!  And, don’t fret, every time I plan on coming back to New York, I hope to contact all of my wonderful clients there for a reunion haircut at Space.  Plus, you can always comment here or email me.  We can be in touch as much or as little as we like!  Isn’t technology great?!

Of course, you can also come see me in Seattle… where the views are beautiful and the haircuts are very affordable! I hope I do see you at VAIN sometime, it’s an amazing and inspirational creative Seattle hotspot where I am very proud to work!

Hi Kellianne! I love your new blog. But I’m so sad you left Space!!!!!! ***TEARS*** I called there this week to schedule a cut with you and learned about this tragic fact. Now who’s going to handle my complicated Brazilian hair? You have to help me find someone, either at Space or somewhere else…You were the only person I ever let touch my hair in NYC. I went to Brazil in December and was going to have my cut there on the last day of the trip but then I had a stupid accident (cut my forehead and had to get sticthes - don’t worry I’m fine now lol)so I couldn’t do it. Now I’m in desperate need for a cut. Sigh.
I’m not sure if you will remember me but I will never forget you since you did my hair for my wedding. :D I can send you the photos of that day if you give me your e-mail.
I am glad to hear you are happy with your new life. I hope you’re enjoying married life too.
Please Please Please contact me if you happen to come here to work a little a bit.

Big hugs and all the best!

Hey Andrea! Of course I remember you! You are a beautiful bride and a lovely woman. But, a cut on your head?! To match the burn on your hand? Good gravy!

I think you would really love to see Robin at Space. She’s a wonderful girl and a great hairstylist, too.

I will let you know when I come back into town for a visit! I’d love to see you again!

Now I’m panicking! First, I have to go through the denial phase, than the self-pity phase, and I’m sure a number of other phases when you lose the best hair stylist in my lifetime.

Please send me a recommendation at Space.

I’ll stop by for a clean-up next time I’m in Seattle.

Don’t panic! Go to see Kanna at Space. She’s lovely and an awesome hair stylist.

Since deciding to stick in Seattle a while, I am often having dreams about NYC. In dreamland, I stumble around the city and wonder why I ever left. The Taj Mahal is usually located in Midtown, right down the lane to some dilapidated Tim Burton-esque housing where I could live for free as long as I don’t mind broke-down talking dolls, slanting floors, and bombed out walls. I am always late for work in the NYC of my dreams because I am lost in a web of streets that have no central transportation purpose and end without warning. I don’t know what any of this means, but the dreams are really cool.

I look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
